Water Cooling Tower Model TCM

Water Cooling Tower Model TCM

The TCM series cooling towers are the best engineering arrangement for towers from 430 m3/h capacity up to 2950 m3/h capacity per cell.

They are the result of decades of development, dating back to the 1960s, with more than 20,000 units installed. The TCM series cooling towers are juxtaposed panels built-in fiberglass (fiberglass reinforced polyester) and internal in engineering plastics. A smarter solution for your industrial process, with great longevity and low maintenance. They are delivered, dismantled to be assembled, on-site. They are built to be installed over a concrete pool, built by the customer, with dimensional orientation from Caravela - Thermotank.

The evaporative cooling system applied is counter-current. Atmospheric air is drawn in through suitable windows, installed at the base of the cooling tower, and forced against the current, the water to be cooled, which has been injected, hot, at the top of the cooling tower. After this process, the water is collected in the pool and pumped back to the equipment to be cooled, closing the circuit.

TCM cooling towers are the smartest way to cool your process. For capacity from 430m3/h up to 2950m3/h per cell.

Working principle of the Cooling Tower

Cooling Tower Model TCM Operation

Hot water from the heat source is pumped to the top of the tower, where it is evenly distributed over the fill by spray nozzles. The water to be cooled comes into contact with air drawn in or blown in by the fan. A small portion of the water evaporates, causing it to cool. The saturated air, in this process, is discharged into the atmosphere, and the cooled water is collected in the equipment's pool and pumped to the heat source, repeating the process.

Constructive Details of the TCM Cooling Tower

Cooling tower housing
  1. Made of fiberglass reinforced polyester (fiberglass). Self-supporting, juxtaposed panels;
  2. Corrosion proof, not degrading, in most normal and or acidic environments;
  3. Easy maintenance;
  4. It has an inspection door, facilitating access to the interior of the cooling tower;
  5. Possibility of self-extinguishing - fire-resistant construction;
  6. Concrete pool, by the customer, according to a drawing provided by Caravela Thermotank. The loads coming from the fan are discharged onto the central pillar, an integral part of the tower structure, which avoids deformation efforts in the tower structure.
Fan
  1. Propellers with adjustable blades, when stopped, high performance "airfoil" profile;
  2. Built-in 3 basic systems, based on the noise level allowed at the installation site Standard - noise level of 85 dB(A) at 2 m distance, Silent - noise level of 78 dB(A) at 2 m Super Silent noise level of 72 dB(A) at 2 m away from the noise source. Premium high-performance electric motor drive, type W22, IR 3., TFVE, class F;
  3. The drive of the system is carried out by a self-efficiency motor plus, W22, TFVE. Power transmission to the propeller is through a robust system of pulleys and belts, with a service factor of 3. Optionally, the system can be built with a speed reducer.
Drift eliminator
  1. Model Chevron 160. Built-in juxtaposed injected polypropylene panels;
  2. Retains process droplets in up to 0.0001% of circulating water. Normalized value in DIN 1947;
  3. They can be built in self-extinguishing material types V0, V1, V2, according to UL 94.
Water distribution
  1. Tubular, made of PVC. It comes with 1" multiple spray nozzles. It has a low-pressure drop and is self-adjusting. Operating range up to 60°C. Higher temperatures are coated with fiberglass.
Heat exchange fill
  1. The heat exchange fill of a cooling tower is the main part of the equipment. The choice of the best type to be installed depends, basically, on the quality of the water and its operating temperatures;
  2. GT fill. Constructed with injected polypropylene grids. It has a wavy profile with an inclination of 30°. They are mounted crosswise, in such a way that one "tube" of water crosses the other, causing swirling intent, with an excellent thermal exchange. Excellent mechanical stability, with resistance up to 60°C of hot water. For industrial water up to 300 ppm they are unbeatable;
  3. Film type fill, model A. Constructed in juxtaposed PVC sheets, with crossed canes, similar to the GT. They are by nature self-extinguishing and have good performance in thermal exchange. But they are more fragile. Its application requires that the water be clean;
  4. Triangular bar type fill. Model 18 fl. Built-in a triangular profile in PP or PVC, the bars are supported by a fiberglass profile. This type of fill can be used in extremely polluted water with a temperature of up to 60°C. Its thermal efficiency is lower than the other fillers presented here.
Hardware
  1. The usual hardware is made of SAE 1020 carbon steel, hot-dip galvanized after fabrication;
  2. Screws, nuts, and washers in cadmium steel or 316 stainless steel.
Accessories To provide long life and ease of operation and installation:
  1. Water treatment. We offer the devices for water treatment, as well as its operation;
  2. Sailor ladder, with guardrail and platform;
  3. Winch installed on the tower, to remove the ventilation set;
  4. Electric control panel for pumps and fans, standard NBR 12;
  5. Key for vibration control;
  6. Hydraulic system, composed of pumps, valves, pressure gauges, and belongings.
